7th Land Rover Gütersloh Half Marathon

& Fun Runs - 2012

Race Day: Sat 23-Jun-12.  This information should equip you with all the knowledge required to ensure that you arrive on time and hopefully enjoy the event.

Background: The Gütersloh Half Marathon is now in its seventh year.  The race forms part of the British Army Germany BA(G) Half Marathon championship.  These events provide a perfect platform to organise a Public Military Event (PME) within the Gütersloh Garrison area.  This event is sponsored by Land Rover Tax Free  

Registration:  On the day registration is available, however it is recommended that you register prior using this website. If you are going to register on the day please go to the registration tent in the main arena opposite the Gymnasium at Princess Royal Barracks (PRB).  Registration will open at 0800 hrs and close at 1045 hrs for the Half Marathon, registration for the 10 Km will close at 1115 hrs & the 2 Km Fun Run closes at 1145 hrs.

Changing Facilities:  There are changing facilities available at the PRB Gymnasium.  Additionally, tents for changing will be available in the main arena.

Left Luggage:  A secure tent will be provided for left luggage.  You will receive a numbered luggage tag for collection after completion of your event.  This service is free to all runners, but all items are left at your own risk, so please do not bring any valuables with you. 

Start Times: 

• 1/2 Marathon 1100 hrs  
• 10 Km Fun Run 1130 hrs
• Families Fun Run (2 Km) 1200 hrs  
  

Start/Finish:  The 1/2 Marathon and Fun Run will start and finish on the rugby pitches opposite the Gymnasium at PRB.

Route Markers:  The route will marshalled at regular intervals to assist anyone if required and ensure no one gets lost.

Refreshments:  Water stations will be provided at regular intervals throughout the route.

Car Parking:  Secure car parking will be provided on PRB.  Access to PRB will be through Crash Gate 6 which will be signposted on the B513 (Marienfelder Str) approaching camp from both directions.  A car pass will be issued to you as you enter the car park.

Medical:  There will be a first aid tent in the main arena and an ambulance will be available through radio contact if required on the route. 

Spectators Entertainment:  There will be lots of entertainment to suit most needs including food, drink, static displays and numerous other activities.  Family and friends are more than welcome to come along and enjoy the day.  

Presentations:  The presentations will be made at approximately 1330 hrs, the following categories will receive trophies:

1/2 Marathon

• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Male German National (also includes all non serving personnel)
• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Female German National (also includes all non serving personnel)
• Fastest Elvis

 BA(G)

• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd BA(G) Male
• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd BA(G) Female 

• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Male Veteran BA(G) - (Over 40) 
• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Female Veteran  BA(G) - (Over 35) 

• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Junior Male BA(G) - (Under 21)
  
• 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd Junior Female BA(G) - (Under 21)

• 1^st Male (Overall)
• 1^st Female  (Overall)

2 Km Fun Run

• Boy Winner (aged 5 -7)  
• Girl Winner (aged 5 -7)

• Girl Winner (aged 8 -12) 

Accommodation:  Unfortunately, due to the high demand on PRB’s current accommodation there is no facility to block book.  Entrants requiring accommodation will need to book on a self help basis.

Toilets:  Toilets will be available at the PRB Gymnasium and Portaloos will be pre-positioned in the main arena.

Pre Race Training:  Entrants should prepare themselves in the best manner possible.  If you type ’half marathon training’ in to Google, you should find a training programme that best suit your individual needs.  There has also been a 10 Week Training Schedule placed onto the web site.
